1. Before you start
- The account must be an Instagram professional account (Business or Creator). A personal account cannot publish through the API. Switch it in the Instagram app's settings, which only takes a minute.
- Log in to the right Instagram account in your browser first if you manage several.
2. Connect
- On the Dashboard press + and choose Instagram.
- Log in to Instagram and approve the permissions: basic profile, publish content, manage comments and read insights. Postalu asks for these to publish, to post your first comment, and to read your post numbers.
- You return to the Dashboard. The row shows your @handle and the Instagram Professional Account label.
3. What you can post
Photos, Reels (a single video), carousels of up to 10 photos and Stories. See Instagram settings for the limits and the Reel cover and alt text options.
4. How long the login lasts
Instagram logins end after a limited time. The row shows the days left, then Expiring soon in the last 7 days. Press Refresh connection from the ⋮ menu to renew it.
While Postalu's Meta app is in development mode, only people added as testers of that app can connect an Instagram account. If the connection is refused for an account that should work, ask support to confirm it is a tester.
