Postalu is a place to write a post once and send it to several social networks. A few words appear all through the studio and this help center.
| Term | What it means |
|---|---|
| Workspace | Your account. Everything you connect, create and pay for belongs to one workspace. It is either a Solo or an Agency workspace (see Solo or Agency). |
| Channel | One connected account on a platform: an Instagram professional account, a Facebook Page, a YouTube channel, and so on. The Dashboard lists them in the Channels card. |
| Post | One piece of content: its media, caption, optional description and first comment, and the platforms it goes to. One post can be delivered to many channels. |
| Delivery (target) | One post going to one channel. A post sent to Instagram and two YouTube channels has three deliveries, each with its own status, link and numbers. |
| Draft | A post saved without being published. People without publish rights save drafts; a publisher posts or schedules them later. See Drafts. |
| Scheduled post | A post waiting for its publish time. It publishes from Postalu's servers even if nobody is signed in. |
| Queue slot | A recurring weekly time you like to post at, used to fill in schedule times. See Queue slots. |
| Role and permission | What each person on an Agency workspace may do. See Roles and permissions. |
1. What happens when you publish
- Your photos or videos upload straight from your browser to Postalu's private storage. Nothing passes through a public location.
- Postalu checks each file by reading its first bytes, so a renamed program or web page is refused and removed.
- The post is saved with one delivery per selected channel.
- For each delivery, Postalu gives the platform a short-lived link to the file and posts with the settings you chose. Deliveries run independently.
- Each result (live link, or the reason it failed) is saved on the post and shown in History.
- Once every channel has the post, the stored media is deleted automatically. The post record and its numbers stay.
2. Who does the scheduling
A scheduler on Postalu's servers checks for due posts every 30 seconds. You do not need to keep a browser open. A post that is up to 2 hours late still goes out; later than that it is marked as missed. See What happens if a scheduled post is late or missed.
